Getting into Malaysia

Malaysia has a total of six international airports with the main travel hub being centred at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Over 60 International airlines fly direct to Malaysia connecting 113 major cities from 35 countries, including Australia, the UK and the USA, making Malaysia easily accessible from anywhere in the world.

There are direct access with two main international terminals in Kuala Lumpur with over 50 offering direct flight to Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Low Cost Carrier Terminal.

There are direct access with two Apart from air access, Malaysia is also easily accessible by sea within international ports in Sabah, Penang and Port Klang, and via land transport from Thailand and Singapore.

Visa

Most nationalities do not require visas for social or business visits to Malaysia. Visitors to Malaysia must be in possession of a valid passport or travel document with a minimum validity of six months beyond the period of stay.

Nationals from countries which require a visa can apply through the nearest Malaysian overseas mission (or log onto www.imi.gov.my) by submitting the following documentation:

  • Visa application form with three (3) passport-sized photographs
  • National passport with remaining validity not less than six (6) months
  • Letter of introduction or invitation letter

The multicultural society makes it one of the most tolerant and accepting societies in the world. Because of this, people respects differences while celebrate similarities which helps unify the nation. This diversity is evident in many facets of the society. As a result, Malaysians are peace-loving by nature and are renowned for their hospitality towards visitors from around the world.

Easy Communication

Malay or Bahasa Malaysia is the official language in of the Country, but communicating is not be a problem as English is widely spoken here. Malaysians are a multicultural society, so along with English and Malay, there are up to 130 living languages spoken here, with 41 spoken in Peninsular Malaysia. The native tribes of East Malaysia make up most of the languages while Chinese Malaysians predominantly speak Chinese dialects such as Cantonese, Mandarin,Hokkien, Hakka, Hainanese, and Fuzhou. Tamil and Hindi are spoken predominantly by Malaysian Indians.

Climate

Malaysia experiences a warm tropical weather all year round. Temperatures range from a low of 21℃ (70℉) to a high of 32℃ (90℉) with little variation throughout the year. Heavy rain showers are common but most often short in duration. Balmy evenings are ideal for outdoor dining, night markets and late night shopping. Malaysia time is 8 hours ahead of the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+8).

Currency

The currency is Malaysian Rinngit, indicated as MYR. Foreign exchange booths are common and clearly state the exchange rates for all major currencies.
